Dreaming Bigger with One Million Black Women in Business

Late in 2024, I received some incredible news: I was accepted into the One Million Black Women in Business Program, sponsored by Goldman Sachs. In March 2025, I officially joined Cohort 7, and I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for this opportunity. This program has already stretched me, inspired me, and reminded me of why I started this journey with Sole Inspired in the first place.

As I reflect on my experience so far, I’ve discovered three truths that are shaping both me and my business:

1. I stopped dreaming big, but the spark is back.

Somewhere along the way, I narrowed my vision without even realizing it. I wasn’t thinking as boldly as I could. This program reminded me to lift my head up and dream bigger, not just about going global (though I’m thrilled to now be working with a run store in New Zealand), but also about expanding the way Sole Inspired shows up in the world. I started looking at movement in its fullness, beyond running, and at opportunities to partner with more businesses that align with our mission. That spark has returned, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. Happy mail and encouragement can reach further than I ever imagined.

2. I love collaboration and I’ve missed it.

Entrepreneurship can be a lonely path, and I realized just how much I’ve missed collaborating, sharing ideas, and being challenged by others who are dreaming big too. For some reason, I didn’t pull from all the knowledge I gained in corporate America to help me build my business. I thought I had to start from scratch in this new creative space. But the truth is, I’ve always thrived in structure, problem-solving, and process and bringing that back into my business feels like coming home.

3. The power in genuine connections.

This program has shown me that there are people who truly want to see you win, and I want the same for them. I’ve met women who share resources, ideas, encouragement, and community with open hands and open hearts. It’s refreshing, it’s rare, and it makes me hopeful.

What I’ve gained most from this experience is a renewed focus: Sole Inspired is a niche business, and that’s a strength. Everyone won’t be my customer. But the ones who are? YOU are my people. And I promise to bring you the very best service, thoughtful products, and maybe even spoil you a little along the way.

This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to share what’s next.
